Viele haben verständlicherweise Probleme ihre Daten Webdiensten anzuvertrauen - vor allem wenn es sich um sicherheitskritische oder persönliche Informationen handelt. Heute bekam ich einen Newsletter von Evernote - dem Notizprogramm, das mit ziemlich vielen Features daherkommt und auch eine Synchronisiation über deren eigene Server ermöglicht:

One of the great things about Evernote is its ability to synchronize all of your notes and memories across all the devices you use. In the event that some of that information is sensitive, you can now encrypt it with the Mac and Windows clients. You can encrypt a portion of a note and decrypt it with a password on another Evernote client. Make sure you don’t forget that password, we do not store it anywhere on our servers and will not be able to recover the encrypted data.

Kann man solchen Aussagen trauen? Werden die Daten wirklich auf den Clients ver- und entschlüsselt und wird vielleicht nicht bei Update-Checks auch etwas anderes übertragen?
